Iranian state television has reported the death of Kamal Kharazi, a former foreign minister, on Thursday night due to injuries from an airstrike.
Kharazi, who served under Iran's reformist President Mohammad Khatami, was later an advisor to Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
In 2022, Kharazi suggested on Al Jazeera that Iran could technically produce a nuclear weapon, although there was no intention to do so, which heightened global tensions regarding Iran's nuclear capabilities.
