In a recent development ahead of the April 9 Assembly elections, KPCC Chief Sunny Joseph voiced serious concerns over the security of ballot boxes employed for home voting in Kerala's northern district. Joseph, addressing a press conference, claimed these boxes have excessively wide mouths, raising fears of potential tampering with ballot papers.

In response, District Collector Arun K Vijayan issued a formal statement dismissing the allegations as 'baseless'. Vijayan emphasized that the home voting process adheres to the stringent security standards mandated by the Election Commission, ensuring both safety and transparency for senior citizens and differently-abled voters.

Joseph's accusations have intensified as he accused the district collector of acting on behalf of the ruling party. However, Vijayan asserted that the ballot boxes used are standard across various districts and have been in use during previous elections, guaranteeing their appropriateness and security.
