In the J&K Legislative Assembly on Saturday, tensions flared between Minister Sakeena Itoo and PDP MLA Waheed ur Rehman Para. The debate centered on the issue of school upgradation, with Itoo using a contentious 'milk and toffee' remark to counter Para's criticisms.
Itoo accused the People's Democratic Party (PDP) of playing a role in Jammu and Kashmir's transition to a Union Territory and the removal of Article 370 in 2019. She invoked the controversial statement made by then-chief minister Mehbooba Mufti in 2016, applying it repeatedly to criticize the opposition's stance.
As Waheed ur Rehman Para attempted to respond, chaos ensued, with lawmakers from both the ruling and opposition sides rising in heated response. Despite the uproar, Para managed to challenge Itoo's credentials, questioning her position in the education ministry. The exchange underscored the persistent political divisions in the region.
