Uproar in Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Over Controversial Encounter

On the last day of the Budget Session, the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly was engulfed in chaos as the National Conference, Congress, and PDP called for a judicial inquiry into the Ganderbal encounter. The incident, which resulted in the death of Rashid Ahmad Mughal, classified by the army as a terrorist, spurred debates about its authenticity.
His family, however, insists on Mughal's innocence and demanded the return of his body for a proper burial, denouncing the encounter as fake. The demand for a judicial probe was backed by MLAs across party lines, excluding the BJP, highlighting the need for justice and transparency.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has initiated a magisterial probe, with a report expected within a week. Amid concerns of undermined justice, calls for accountability, and transparency, tensions in the assembly emphasize the sensitivity and urgency of the issue, reflecting broader concerns over democratic rights.
