Senior Congress leader and candidate for the Berhampore Assembly constituency, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, has expressed unwavering confidence in securing public backing amid the upcoming elections. Chowdhury highlighted his enduring relationship with his constituents, stating that the shifting political winds and changing atmosphere are evident signs of support in his favor.

Chowdhury strongly criticized the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC), accusing them of deliberately stalling development projects within his constituency, particularly rail-related initiatives. He claimed that these projects have been obstructed to prevent him from receiving any credit, despite the readiness of the Railways to fund such ventures without financial burden on the state.

The senior leader alleged that the TMC prioritizes political credit over essential development, aiming to centralize accolades around Mamata Banerjee. Contesting for an Assembly seat after 30 years, Chowdhury is determined to reinvigorate the Congress's presence in West Bengal as he competes against formidable opponents from the BJP and TMC. The elections are set to unfold in two phases, with polling dates in late April and counting scheduled for early May.
