The Mizoram Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president, Lal Thanzara, delivered a strong critique of the ruling Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) on Friday. At a party gathering at the Congress Bhavan, he announced that public optimism for the ZPM government has degraded into 'widespread disappointment.'

Lal Thanzara accused the ZPM of failing to sustain its 'seraphic and clean' image after two years in power. He pointed to alleged corruption in the state's rice supply chain as a significant fault, criticizing a government decision to hike rice prices across the state while awarding supply tenders to a private firm that was not the lowest bidder.

He claimed that the firm's trucks, capable of carrying 700 bags, reportedly transported as few as 16 per trip. These discrepancies led him to call for the Val Upa Council, the ZPM's self-appointed watchdog, to investigate. Attempts to reach officials for comment on these allegations were unsuccessful.
