US-Sri Lanka Relations Strengthened Amid Tensions in West Asia

In a pivotal meeting, the US Special Representative for South and Central Asia, Sergio Gor, engaged with Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake on Thursday to discuss enhancing bilateral relations and the island nation's stance on the ongoing West Asia crisis.

This diplomacy comes as Sri Lanka finds itself caught in the middle of the US-Israeli conflict against Iran. The meeting, held at the Presidential Secretariat, is part of broader US endeavors to protect crucial sea routes, strengthen commercial ties, and promote a free, open Indo-Pacific region.

Following his engagements in Sri Lanka, Special Envoy Gor is scheduled to visit Maldives, continuing his regional tour aimed at bolstering cooperation across the Indian Ocean Region.
