In a strategic move to reinforce the party's unity, senior Congress leader AK Antony has implored K Sudhakaran to align with party decisions, aiming to thwart the possibility of a third consecutive term for the Left Democratic Front (LDF) in Kerala. The appeal comes amid internal deliberations concerning leadership and candidate selection for the upcoming Kerala Assembly elections.
Antony, reflecting on his dialogue with Sudhakaran, highlighted Sudhakaran's tenacity, having combated against the Marxist party in Kannur at great personal risk. He stressed the importance of Sudhakaran maintaining loyalty to the party's objectives, despite adversities. Antony made it clear the necessity of preventing another Marxist government, urging the prioritization of collective party goals over personal differences.
Meanwhile, CPI (M) State Secretary MV Govindan launched a critique against the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF), highlighting internal conflicts in their candidate selection process. Govindan argued that while the UDF was initially confident of its electoral prospects, delays in decisions, particularly regarding Sudhakaran, revealed fragility within. Govindan contended that the LDF is gaining public support, solidifying its stance for a potential third term.
