Election Commission Initiates Major Officer Reshuffle in West Bengal
The Election Commission has ordered a major reshuffle in West Bengal, appointing 13 IAS officers as district magistrates and five IPS officers as DIGs. This move aims to ensure fair elections in the state. Officers will monitor poll preparedness at the district level, included in recent administrative changes.

The Election Commission on Wednesday announced significant administrative changes ahead of the West Bengal assembly elections, appointing 13 IAS officers as district magistrates (DMs) who will also serve as district election officers (DEOs) across the state.
In its directive, the commission also repositioned five senior IPS officers as deputy inspectors general (DIGs). The reshuffle is intended to enhance poll management and oversight, aiming for transparent and efficiently conducted elections.
These appointments come in the wake of other recent administrative shifts, following the announcement of the election schedule. Voting for the state's 294-member assembly is slated for April 23 and 29, with results to be declared on May 4.
