Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Guwahati on Friday afternoon, commencing a two-day visit to Assam. His planned visit to Kokrajhar was canceled due to heavy rain, according to officials.
Modi is set to unveil Kokrajhar projects worth over Rs 4,570 crore virtually from Guwahati. The PM was welcomed at the Guwahati airport by Governor Laxman Prasad Acharya and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, among other officials.
Chief Minister Sarma expressed his honor in welcoming Modi, highlighting the development efforts worth Rs 47,703 crore that the visit promises for Assam. Modifying his itinerary, the PM will launch projects worth Rs 19,680 crore in Guwahati and visit Silchar the next day for projects totaling Rs 23,550 crore.
