The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference organized a protest in Jammu following an attack on their president, Farooq Abdullah. The demonstrators demanded a comprehensive probe into the incident and called for the restoration of law and order.
Abdullah, aged 88, narrowly escaped harm when a gunman fired at him from behind as he exited a marriage event in Greater Kailash. The police have arrested Kamal Singh Jamwal, the 63-year-old assailant, who admitted he had long awaited this opportunity.
Carrying NC flags and signs demanding justice, protesters marched from Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan. They faced a police blockade at Raghunath Bazaar but some continued towards City Chowk, staging a brief sit-in. NC leaders described the attack as a significant security failing, urging improvements in Jammu and Kashmir's safety measures.
