The Lok Sabha witnessed a fiery debate during a no-confidence motion against Speaker Om Birla, led by the opposition. The discord escalated when BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi locked horns over what Gandhi described as hindered speech opportunities in Parliament.
Ravi Shankar Prasad questioned the veracity of Gandhi's claims that he was stopped from addressing critical concerns, including allegations against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In response, Gandhi argued that the government silenced him, obstructing his attempts to raise issues such as former Army Chief General MM Naravane's unpublished book.
The session further unraveled with Gandhi's accusations of Prime Minister Modi being compromised, which Prasad fervently dismissed. The debate arose from an opposition-led move accusing Speaker Om Birla of biased behavior, with a resolution backed by over 50 MPs.
