India Urges West Asia Peace Amid Rising Tensions

Tensions have escalated in West Asia following a military offensive by the US and Israel, resulting in the death of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar addressed Parliament, advocating for dialogue and diplomacy as solutions to the crisis.

India has prioritized the safety of approximately one crore Indians in the region, emphasizing the importance of energy security and trade. The government has already evacuated 67,000 nationals amidst the deteriorating security situation. The Indian leadership remains engaged in high-level diplomatic conversations to ensure civilian safety and de-escalation.

Opposition parties in India have called for an in-depth discussion on the matter, but the focus remains on addressing the current crisis. India's commitment to peace entails diplomatic communications, energy market management, and humanitarian actions such as allowing Iranian ships to dock for humanitarian reasons.
