Political tensions have escalated following accusations aimed at West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for allegedly breaching protocol and disrespecting President Droupadi Murmu and the Santhal community. Assam Assembly Deputy Speaker Numal Momin highlighted the alleged disrespect during a statement to ANI, urging Banerjee to acknowledge the importance of respecting the neutral position of the President.

Adding to the controversy, BJP MP Kangana Ranaut labeled the incident an affront to the Constitution, expressing confidence that appropriate actions would be taken to address the issue. Ranaut's comments reflect a broader sentiment within the BJP, emphasizing the gravity of the allegations.

In response, West Bengal Minister Shashi Panja defended Chief Minister Banerjee, redirecting criticism towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Panja questioned Modi's respect for the President, citing incidents where protocol seemed to falter on his part. The ruling Trinamool Congress dismissed the accusations as politically driven, aiming to undermine the state administration ahead of political gains.
