The White House has dismissed Todd Inman, a Republican member of the National Transportation Safety Board, without providing any reasons. Inman, who served as chief of staff to Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao during President Donald Trump's administration, was appointed to the NTSB in April 2024.
Inman's tenure included involvement in investigations of significant incidents, such as the American Airlines collision with an Army helicopter near Reagan Washington National Airport that claimed 67 lives, and the crash of a UPS cargo plane in Louisville, Kentucky, which resulted in 15 fatalities.
This follows the controversial firing of former NTSB vice chair Alvin Brown in May, who has contested his dismissal in court. Brown, a Florida Democrat and the first African American elected mayor of Jacksonville, argues that his termination lacked justifiable cause.
