M Y Tarigami, a senior CPI-M leader and Kulgam MLA, has issued a strong appeal to the Indian government, urging it to denounce the US-Israeli military actions against Iran. Tarigami underscored the significance of the longstanding traditional ties between Tehran and New Delhi, pointing out their mutual support during challenging times.
Speaking to reporters, Tarigami expressed his anguish over India's current passive or seemingly biased stance, insisting on a condemnation of what he referred to as 'barbarism' and the 'agenda of genocide' orchestrated by the US and Israel. He emphasized the need for India to actively work towards halting the conflict in West Asia, warning that its continuation could destabilize the entire region.
Tarigami also stressed the importance of releasing those detained during protests in Kashmir against the death of Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. He labeled the detentions and accompanying FIRs as unjust, advocating for their withdrawal. The US and Israel's military strikes on February 28, which resulted in Khamenei's death, have led to escalated tensions, with Iran retaliating against Israeli and American bases in the Gulf.
