The inaugural cabinet meeting led by Bangladesh's newly appointed Prime Minister, Tarique Rahman, took center stage on Wednesday at the Secretariat. On the agenda was an ambitious 180-day plan focused on crucial issues like controlling commodity prices, law and order, and supply chain stabilization.
Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, in a briefing, emphasized that the plan also includes ensuring stable power and energy supplies. He noted this is an extension of the traditional 100-day government plans, with detailed strategies to be disclosed soon. Rahman's government aims to implement its election manifesto, geared towards economic stability and growth.
In an additional briefing, Ahmed declared an end to 'mob culture' in Bangladesh, reinforcing that while democratic rallies are permitted, disruptions like highway blockades will not be tolerated. Rahman's leadership suggests significant policy shifts, following the interim government led by Muhammad Yunus. After years in exile, Rahman returns with promises to meet public mandates aggressively.
