Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma paid a visit to the revered Vindhyavasini Temple in Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh. Accompanied by local MLA Ratnakar Mishra, Sarma performed rituals following his darshan of Goddess Vindhyavasini.
The visit coincides with the political turbulence in Assam, highlighted by the resignation of former Congress president Bhupen Kumar Bora. Sarma addressed the situation, expressing his intent to meet Bora for discussions related to his potential BJP involvement.
With assembly elections on the horizon, Sarma also commented on Assam's evolving demography, noting an alleged increase in the state's Muslim population due to migration from Bangladesh. He highlighted ongoing efforts to reclaim encroached lands, stating that 50,000 acres have been cleared, with plans to free an additional 1.5 lakh acres.
