BJP MP Nishikant Dubey has criticized the Congress, accusing the party of exhibiting double standards in political rhetoric. In a post on X, Dubey referenced a 1964 statement by a Congress parliamentary leader that equated former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru with the nation.

"The Congress Party's official stance in 1964 was that 'Nehru means India, India means Nehru.' This was acceptable because of the Congress Party's 'royal' lineage. Yet, expressing that Prime Minister Modi ji is above reproach incites controversy," Dubey remarked. His comments arise amid ongoing tensions with Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi over the India-US interim trade agreement, focusing on its impact on India's textile industry and cotton farmers.

Gandhi accused PM Modi's administration of misleading the public about the trade deal's tariff implications, suggesting it would harm India's cotton farmers and textile exporters. In response, Dubey dismissed Gandhi's claims as false, challenging him to debate on any platform. Speaking to ANI, Dubey intensified his critique of Gandhi, labeling him a "mahamurkh" Leader of Opposition and defended the government’s efforts in protecting farmers and enhancing exports.
