Political tensions have escalated in Himachal Pradesh over the revocation of the Revenue Deficit Grant (RDG), with Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu demanding clarity from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on its position. Sukhu asserts that RDG is a longstanding right of the state, a right disrupted by the 16th Finance Commission's decision.
Addressing the public in Sarahan, Sukhu accused the previous BJP government of mismanaging funds, leading to the current debt crisis. He announced several development initiatives, including improved healthcare facilities, road infrastructures, and educational reforms, to boost the state's self-reliance and economic stability.
Industries Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan echoed Sukhu's sentiments, criticizing the BJP for their unwillingness to address the RDG issue, further complicating Himachal Pradesh's financial stability. The political discord within the BJP was highlighted as members walked out of the all-party meeting called by the chief minister.
