Macron Advocates for Strategic European Security Reforms

French President Emmanuel Macron has called on Europe to prioritize long-term strategic planning and consider the integration of France's nuclear deterrent into the bloc's future security framework. Macron outlined his vision during a speech at the Munich Security Conference on Friday.

Addressing concerns about Europe's declining influence, Macron asserted that the continent must harness its potential to become a geopolitical force. He warned that even with a potential resolution to the Ukraine conflict, Europe should anticipate continued challenges from Russia and resist any agreements that fail to address fundamental issues.

Macron proposed a series of consultations with European counterparts, including British and German leaders, to rethink and reorganize Europe's security architecture, originally shaped during the Cold War. He plans to deliver a detailed outline of France's nuclear deterrent strategy within a few weeks.
