Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took aim at the Samajwadi Party, criticizing its current take on socialism as a front for dynasty politics and opportunism. Speaking in response to the governor's address in the Assembly, Adityanath argued that socialism, once rooted in sacrifice and moral ideals, now supports personal empires and caste divisions. He questioned the SP's development model, noting that projects like the Gomti River Front and the Jai Prakash Narayan International Centre remain incomplete despite budget overruns.
The chief minister lamented the shift from socialism's original principles of equality and social justice. He referenced notable socialist figures, Jai Prakash Narayan and Lohia, who were once seen as icons of the movement. According to Adityanath, the current state of socialism prioritizes wealth and lineage over the values championed by these past leaders.
Addressing the issue of caste animosity, Adityanath warned of its divisive effects, arguing that it has historically weakened society. He accused the socialist movement of exacerbating these divisions for political gain and criticized its tendency to glorify historical invaders in the name of appeasement. He also humorously suggested that socialists change positions more frequently than a chameleon.
