India Monitors Protests in Iran; Ensures Safety of Nationals

Around 9,000-10,000 Indians reside in Iran and are not considered stranded. The Indian embassy remains in contact, offering guidance. The government has advised against non-essential travel.

The Indian government has assured Parliament that it is vigilantly observing the situation in Iran following recent civil protests, while confirming that no Indian citizens have gone missing or been harmed.
In a response to the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for External Affairs, Kirti Vardhan Singh, informed that the Indian embassy in Tehran is maintaining regular contact with nationals, including students, providing necessary guidance. Approximately 9,000-10,000 Indians are currently in Iran, with no evacuation carried out since the June 2025 Operation Sindhu, as commercial flights remain operational.
The Ministry of External Affairs has issued travel advisories discouraging non-essential travel to Iran and recommending Indians in the country to utilize commercial flights for departure. India's diplomatic strategy remains cautious, with the government consistently monitoring the situation.
