Actor-politician Vijay has publicly condemned the recent attack on journalists in Karur, Tamil Nadu, allegedly carried out by associates of a local politician. Vijay described this incident as an assault on the democratic principle of a free press and expressed disappointment over the lack of immediate legal action.
The attack, which targeted Tiruchirappalli-based reporters and cameramen from a Tamil news channel, was allegedly perpetrated by Srirangam DMK MLA Palaniandi. A video of the attack has gained traction online, sparking widespread outrage and calls for justice.
In a statement on social media, Vijay criticized the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister for not acting promptly and called for a police case against the MLA. He stressed the importance of maintaining law and order and warned that the DMK might face consequences in the upcoming Assembly election due to public dissatisfaction.
