Seif al-Islam Gadhafi's Sudden Demise Stuns Libya

Seif al-Islam Gadhafi, the son of Libya's deceased ruler Moammar Gadhafi, has been reportedly killed in Zintan, southwest of Tripoli. Libyan officials announced the news on Tuesday, although details of his death remain undisclosed. At 53, Gadhafi was once considered his father's heir.

A lawyer for Seif al-Islam, Khaled al-Zaidi, confirmed the death through social media without elaborating on the circumstances. Similarly, Abdullah Othman Abdurrahim, a UN political dialogue representative, took to Facebook to share the news. According to Libyan news outlet Fawasel Media, Seif al-Islam was killed by armed men at his residence.
