Parliament Drama: Opposition Walkout Over Indo-US Trade Deal

Tensions flared in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday as multiple opposition parties staged a dramatic walkout over demands for a discussion on the Indo-US trade deal. Congress leader Jairam Ramesh spearheaded the protest after alleging that crucial details about the trade deal were surfacing from Washington rather than Delhi.

The opposition's protest escalated with slogans alleging that national interests were being compromised. Leader of the House J P Nadda countered these allegations, stating the government's commitment to transparency and readiness to discuss the trade deal in detail.

Nadda accused the opposition of using the scenario to create political turmoil. Despite an assurance of a forthcoming government statement, the walkout persisted. All opposition parties, barring the TMC, exited in protest while the TMC conducted a separate demonstration over the treatment of SIR-affected families.
