In a passionate discourse, Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan lambasted the ruling YSRCP, accusing them of sacrilege by using adulterated ghee in the revered Tirumala Sri Venkateswara Swamy Laddu prasadam. Kalyan alleged that oil made with chemicals and palm oil substituted the authentic ghee, wounding the sentiments of millions of devotees.
Addressing a Jana Sena Party meeting, Kalyan urged YSRCP leaders to end the dissemination of false narratives surrounding the laddu issue. He accused the YSRCP of bending rules to procure large volumes of substandard ghee under the previous administration, labeling their actions an exploit of religious faith for political ends.
In response, YSRCP's spokesperson Bhumana Karunakar Reddy countered that lab reports, including those from NDDB and NDRI, found no animal fat in the ghee. He accused opposition party TDP and media of distorting facts, asserting YSRCP's tightened procedures to ensure ghee quality in prasadam, and questioned the morality behind exploiting religious beliefs for political leverage.
