US-India Relations: A New Chapter in Trade Talks

In a bid to mend the frayed relations between the United States and India, President Donald Trump reached out to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday through a phone call. Official confirmation of the conversation came from US ambassador to India Sergio Gor via a brief social media post.

The timing of the call coincided with Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar's arrival in Washington for a three-day visit. The visit seeks to address the sharp downturn in diplomatic relations, marked by a spike in US tariffs on Indian goods and other contentious issues such as immigration policies.

Despite the tensions, significant progress has reportedly been made in negotiations for a bilateral trade deal, highlighting efforts by both countries to resolve pressing issues and strengthen economic partnerships.
