Raj Thackeray, the leader of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), announced that the party will not form an alliance with the BJP for the upcoming mayoral elections of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). The declaration was made after a meeting with party functionaries on Monday.
Thackeray was briefed by MNS workers about the lack of cooperation from Shiv Sena (UBT) in certain civic wards. The MNS expressed dissatisfaction with the 'unwinnable' seats they received in Mumbai as part of their alliance with Shiv Sena (UBT), helmed by former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.
The MNS leader urged party workers to focus on strengthening the organization rather than dwelling on past events. In the recent BMC polls, the BJP secured 89 seats to become the single largest party, while the Shiv Sena (UBT) won 65. The BJP-Shiv Sena coalition now holds a majority in the new House.
