Debate over Health Schemes in West Bengal: Banerjee Critiques Ayushman Bharat Conditions

Senior Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee has voiced strong criticism against the Ayushman Bharat health scheme's eligibility criteria, claiming that if implemented in West Bengal, it would exclude a vast majority of the population from benefits.

Addressing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent comments on the non-implementation of the central scheme, Banerjee highlighted the inclusivity of the state government’s Swasthya Sathi scheme, which, he argues, comes with no conditions and is accessible to all residents.

At a rally in Purulia district, viewed as a BJP stronghold, Banerjee underscored that the Mamata Banerjee administration ensures health benefits for everyone, regardless of political affiliation, contrasting with Modi's claim that the TMC government is blocking the Ayushman Bharat scheme.
