Early trends in Marathwada’s municipal elections show BJP leading in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, and Nanded, while Congress prevails in Latur. The results underscore a complex political landscape, with factions of Shiv Sena, AIMIM, and NCP also gaining traction.
In Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, BJP candidates head 22 seats, with Shiv Sena led by Deputy CM Eknath Shinde following closely in 19. AIMIM captured leads in 14, and Shiv Sena (UBT) in 10, according to Marathi media reports.
In Jalna, BJP leads in 19 of 65 seats, bolstered by ex-Congress MLA Kailas Gorantyal’s switch. Congress holds only 3. Meanwhile, Latur sees Congress advancing in 30 of 70 seats. Parbhani Municipal Corporation shows Shiv Sena (UBT) ahead in 23 of 65 seats. In Nanded, BJP and Congress compete closely, confirming media’s early trends.
