The United Nations human rights chief has criticized U.S. military strikes targeting alleged drug dealers off the coast of South America, labeling them as violations of international human rights law.
In a strong-worded statement released on Friday, Volker Turk described these actions, which have reportedly incurred significant human costs, as 'unacceptable' and called for an immediate cessation.
Turk’s spokesperson added during a press briefing in Geneva that the issue has been directly addressed with American officials, urging the U.S. to prevent further extrajudicial killings on these vessels.
