Diplomatic Tensions: U.S. Scraps Trump-Putin Summit Amid Ukraine Dispute
The U.S. canceled a Budapest summit between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin due to Russia's demands over Ukraine. After tense diplomatic exchanges, Moscow insisted on territorial concessions and Ukrainian non-NATO membership for a ceasefire. The cancellation reflects ongoing geopolitical challenges and differing goals in resolving the Ukraine conflict.

The United States has canceled a planned summit between President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Budapest, as reported by the Financial Times on Friday. The decision followed Russia's insistence on hardline demands regarding Ukraine, including territorial concessions for a ceasefire.
The move comes after a tense call between U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. During the call, Lavrov reiterated Moscow's demands, which Washington deemed uncompromisable, prompting the summit's cancellation, according to sources cited by the FT.
Following Russia's unwavering stance, the White House has made no official comment, nor have Russian officials responded. Despite President Trump supporting an immediate ceasefire based on current lines, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy stated that Ukraine is willing to engage in peace talks but refuses further territorial withdrawals.
