Former Indian cricket captain and Congress leader Mohammad Azharuddin is poised for a significant political role as he is likely to be inducted into the Telangana Cabinet, sources revealed on Wednesday.
With the current Cabinet comprising 15 members, including Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, the inclusion of Azharuddin would represent the first minority appointment, filling one of the three available positions. This move could prove pivotal in the Jubilee Hills by-poll, following the death of MLA Maganti Gopinath.
The Telangana Congress has pushed for Azharuddin's induction, with the All India Congress Committee (AICC) backing the decision.
