A 28-year-old man from Haryana's Hisar district, named Sonu, was killed in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, after being deceitfully recruited into the Russian army. He was cremated in his native village, Madanheri, on Wednesday.

According to family members and the police, Sonu was initially in Russia to pursue a foreign-language course. However, he was subsequently conscripted against his will into the Russian military to fight in Ukraine. Tragically, Sonu lost his life in a Ukrainian drone strike, as communicated by a Russian army commander.

The body of Sonu was brought back to India, arriving at the Delhi airport by Wednesday morning, before being transported to his village. His family is now demanding justice and urgent government intervention for the safe return of other Indians caught overseas.
