Azharuddin's Possible Cabinet Induction Sparks Speculation
Speculation surrounds the possible induction of ex-cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin into the Telangana Cabinet. Though no official confirmation exists, his inclusion would mark the first representation of a minority in Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy's cabinet. Azharuddin was recently nominated as MLC but awaits Governor clearance.

There is growing speculation about the potential induction of former Indian cricket captain Mohammad Azharuddin into the Telangana Cabinet. While the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President, Bomma Mahesh Kumar Goud, remains tight-lipped on the subject, he remarked, “It may be possible. I can neither confirm nor deny,” during a conversation with PTI.
With no official statements from the party or Azharuddin himself, the matter continues to be subject to widespread speculation. Currently, the cabinet, led by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, consists of 15 members with vacancies for three more, notably lacking any minority representation.
If Azharuddin is inducted, he would become the first minority community minister in the cabinet. Recently appointed as a Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) under the Governor’s quota, Azharuddin's appointment has not yet been cleared by Governor Jishnu Dev Varma. Despite an unsuccessful bid in the Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency in 2023, Azharuddin's potential cabinet role is generating significant attention.
