China recently confirmed President Xi Jinping's visit to South Korea for the APEC Summit, where he is expected to hold significant talks with his U.S. counterpart, Donald Trump, in a bid to ease escalating trade tensions between the two countries.
Trump, having announced the meeting earlier, is scheduled to meet Xi on October 30, during his Asia trip encompassing Malaysia, Japan, and South Korea. The significant meeting will occur in the city of Busan, just before the official start of the APEC summit on October 31.
Amid heightened tensions, as Beijing hints at tightening rare earth exports controls and Washington threatens new tariffs, both leaders are positioned for strategic negotiations. Analysts advise caution regarding expectations for substantial breakthroughs at the summit.
