The Naga People's Front (NPF) and the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) have officially merged, a decision ratified during a vibrant general convention at Indira Gandhi Stadium. Over 5,000 active members united in support of the merger, reflecting resolutions from party leaders made earlier in October.

Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio was elected as the new President of the NPF, with MLA Achumbemo Kikon continuing as Secretary General. The convention expressed strong confidence in Rio's leadership and praised the NDPP's bold decision to merge, a move seen as a step toward a robust regional political force.

The NPF has committed to reinforcing alliances within the People's Democratic Alliance (PDA), the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), and the North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA). The party also called for an urgent, honourable settlement of the Naga political issue and urged unity among all Naga groups to transform the region's future.
