The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Odisha nominated Jay Dholakia as their candidate for the upcoming Nuapada assembly bypoll scheduled for November 11. The candidacy announcement precedes the second phase of Bihar's elections.
Jay Dholakia, son of the former Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MLA Rajendra Dholakia, has recently switched allegiance to the BJP. He is set to file his nomination papers, with party officials, including Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, planning a significant rally in Nuapada before the filing.
The by-election comes in the wake of Rajendra Dholakia's passing on September 8 and presents a political opportunity for the BJP. Meanwhile, the opposition Congress has fielded Ghasiram Majhi, and the BJD is yet to reveal its candidate.
