In a grim incident in Jharkhand's Latehar district, police have arrested two brothers accused of murdering an elderly man suspected of sorcery. The incident, which occurred in the village of Lai within the Garu police station area, highlights the persistent grip of superstition in certain rural parts.

The victim, 62-year-old Tetra Oraon, was allegedly targeted by the brothers, aged 45 and 34, who confessed to strangling him. They believed Oraon's supposed sorcery led to the deaths of two of their family members and was intertwined with an ongoing land dispute.

According to Jay Prakash Sharma, the officer in charge of the Garu police station, the accused intoxicated Oraon before committing the crime. The brothers now face judicial custody, and the case has prompted discussions about the dangers of superstition and its deadly consequences.
