Olly Robbins, once a leading figure in Britain's foreign ministry, disclosed on Tuesday the significant pressure he faced from the Prime Minister's private office following the appointment of Peter Mandelson as the US ambassador.
Testifying before a parliamentary select committee, Robbins described the urgency surrounding Mandelson's ambassadorship as "very strong," emphasizing the immediate need for his position in Washington.
Robbins further elaborated on the climate in January, highlighting the unending pressure within his and the foreign secretary's offices, which he described as a "constant chasing" environment to meet expectations swiftly.
