Marie-Therese Ross, an 85-year-old French widow, is finally back in France after a taxing ordeal involving US immigration authorities. Detained for overstaying her visa following her husband's passing, Ross spent 16 distressing days in federal custody before her return.
Her son, Herve Goix, emphasized the family's priority is now ensuring her well-being, given the intense experience she endured. 'To preserve her health and for her to rebuild herself,' he stated at a press conference in Orvault, France.
French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot criticized US Immigration and Customs Enforcement practices, asserting they do not meet French standards. Ross had been in the process of securing a green card when complications arose over her late husband's estate, leading to her detention in Alabama.
