Jammu Enforces 60-Day Ban on Inflammatory Social Media Content
The administration of Jammu district has imposed a 60-day ban on sharing communally sensitive content on social media to prevent threats to public order. The ban, under BNSS 2023, prohibits posting content inciting communal tensions. Violators face strict actions, including imprisonment, as per the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and IT Act.

In a decisive move, Jammu's administration has enacted a 60-day ban on the dissemination of communally sensitive and inflammatory content on social media platforms, citing risks to public order and communal harmony.
Utilizing authority under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, District Magistrate Dr. Rakesh Minhas ordered the prohibition, aiming to prevent the misuse of platforms that could incite communal tensions.
Violations will invoke severe legal consequences under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and the Information Technology Act, 2000. Citizens are urged to report any inflammatory content to authorities, as special monitoring cells are established to enforce compliance.
