Frivolous Litigations Withdrawn: A Lawyer's Retreat

A lawyer once criticized for filing unwarranted PILs has decided to retract significant portions of his legal submissions. Sachin Gupta, aiming to de-escalate his court activities, has sought approval from the Supreme Court to withdraw 17 out of his 47 public interest litigations.

The courtroom, presided over by Chief Justice Surya Kant alongside Justices Joymalya Bagchi and Vipul M Panchol, responded favorably to Gupta's request. Representing himself in court, Gupta agreed to withdraw the legal claims once they were slated for hearing.

Previously, Gupta's submissions had been characterized as 'vague' and 'frivolous' by the Supreme Court. The court had advised him to approach relevant authorities prior to resorting to litigation, approving the withdrawal of 25 claims during an April session.
