Jharkhand's government is actively investigating serious allegations of fraudulent salary withdrawals from its treasuries, as confirmed by Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Wednesday. A comprehensive investigation has been launched to address these severe irregularities.
The issue came into the spotlight when over Rs 6 crore was supposedly misappropriated from a treasury salary account in Bokaro. A police department accountant has been arrested in connection with the case, which has triggered a statewide probe ordered by Finance Minister Radha Krishna Kishore. Additional arrests in the Hazaribag treasury scam have brought the total suspected embezzlement to Rs 28 crore.
In a parallel development, Soren commented on the special session of Parliament focusing on women's reservation and changes to the Lok Sabha's seat strength. Soren expressed skepticism about the projected increase to 850 seats, questioning the certainty of that specific number.
