The Allahabad High Court has granted bail to Harshvardhan Jain, who is accused of pretending to be a diplomat and running a fraudulent embassy scheme from a rented house in Ghaziabad district. Jain was arrested in Ghaziabad's Kavi Nagar area last year for orchestrating the con.

Justice Srivastava, in the April 2 order, noted the nature of accusations, potential severity of punishment, and reasonable apprehension of witness tampering, creating grounds for Jain's release on bail. The court emphasized this decision should not be seen as commentary on the case's merit.

Jain purportedly posed as a representative of non-existent countries like Westarctica, Saborga, Poulvia, and Lodonia. According to UP Additional Director General of Police Amitabh Yash, Jain also used diplomatic number plates and deceived individuals with promises of employment.
