The Mira Bhayander-Vasai Virar Police have dismantled a fraudulent scheme targeting a 53-year-old estate agent, orchestrated through a fictitious marriage setup that led to the theft of valuables from his home. Two suspects have been apprehended in connection with this case, officials confirmed on Wednesday.

The victim reportedly fell prey to a fraudulent marriage proposal, for which he transferred Rs 45,750 into several bank accounts as part of wedding preparations. Believing the marital arrangement to be genuine, the estate agent was then robbed of gold ornaments, a laptop, and other belongings valued at Rs 4,56,000, officials detailed.

The suspects, identified as Neha Khandelwal, alias Jannat, and Kesarimal Laxmilal Ranka, have been implicated in similar crimes across different locations, including Ahilyanagar and Jogeshwari.
