Envoy's US Visit Spurs Speculation, Kremlin Dismisses Peace Talks

The Kremlin announced on Friday that the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin's investment envoy to the United States should not be interpreted as an attempt to restart peace negotiations for Ukraine.

According to Reuters, Kirill Dmitriev was in the U.S. to meet with members of President Donald Trump's administration to discuss potential U.S.-Ukraine peace deals and economic cooperation between the U.S. and Russia.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov addressed reporters, reinforcing that Dmitriev was not in the U.S. to negotiate a settlement in Ukraine. Instead, Peskov stated that Dmitriev's role is focused on economic issues within a designated group, reaffirming there were no resumed peace negotiations.
