Officials describe Nikki Tawi as the 'oxygen chamber' of Jammu, valued for its lush greenery. However, the area faces increasing pressure from illegal constructions, sparking concerns about environmental degradation.
The divisional commissioner has submitted detailed reports to the National Green Tribunal (NGT), which is examining the issue. This follows flash floods that washed away 17 houses, urging immediate attention to land encroachments.
