The rejection rate for Right to Information (RTI) applications has dropped dramatically, reaching 3.26% in 2024-25 compared to 7.21% in 2013-14, the Centre announced, citing data from the Central Information Commission's annual report.
Union Minister Jitendra Singh emphasized the ongoing assessment of the RTI Act's effectiveness, while highlighting newly issued guidelines for transparency audits conducted by public authorities. The audits aim to enhance proactive disclosures and improve overall transparency.
For RTI applicants dissatisfied with responses or decisions, an established appeal process allows for grievances to be addressed. This process, including potential complaints to the CIC or State Information Commission, ensures continued accountability in public information dissemination.
